ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 – England
An IPL, the General Elections and a ICC Cricket World Cup in the same year, boy talk about being cramped for room in your entertainment appetite.
The 12th ICC Cricket World Cup is here and it is the 5th time it is being held in England. Despite arguments that the new format is commercial in nature and doesn’t make the World Cup seem like a “Cup of World Teams”, I’d say that the single round-robin format promises to make the World Cup even more exciting.
Coming to the 10 teams participating in the world cup, some teams look strong while some don’t look like their usual best. But when each of these 10 teams take the field, rest assured that every individual will be giving their 110% for their respective country.
There is one team in particular I would like to talk about – West Indies. They have been on a rise upwards for quite a time now. That they had to play the qualifiers to reach here in the first place was a culmination of their darker days. But now that they are here, they are not looking back. Be it Shai Hope’s consistency or be it Jason Holder’s impressive captaincy or be it Shannon Gabriel’s raw pace and swing, this West Indian squad seem to have it all. This is the reason why West Indies are the dark horse for me in the tournament.
Cricket in Progress! has compiled a “Roster”, “Schedule” and “SWOT” analysis for each of the 10 participating teams. We have also added a Key Player – a player we think will be instrumental in his team’s success and a prediction for each team (whether they make it to the semi-finals or not) based on the analysis.
