What if India quits cricket now!

4 min read

India is a country where cricket is not just a sport, but a religion; a religion so strong that it unites 1230 million people just as one. It is so well rooted that it’s impossible to picture our country without its favourite toy. Let it be 1983 or 2011, every Indian is living those mentions till date. From kids to elders who can’t move from bed, cricket has been such an entertainment that doesn’t only entices you but also makes you connect with everyone else in the room. It happens to be the second most patriotic inspiration after “Inquilab Zindabad”.

Yet, it’s so satisfying to understand that if India quits cricket today, the world will no longer know the sport the way they are used to know.
Cricket in this country is so huge that it’s the common people’s chance to make big. In this sub continent, they love cricket so much because these cricketing Stars are nobody but common people who distinctly changed their lives using this platform. It’s a dream so vast in every Indian’s mind that there is not a single person who doesn’t fancy it. And why shouldn’t he? Wearing those blues and representing the country on an international arena is one the most vital things in life. So here’s an overview of what will go down if India quits cricket today.

India’s BCCI(Board of Control for Cricket in India), world’s richest cricketing board has a worth of 295 million US dollars, on paper. This itself tells how much economically India can affect the world. There was a time when BCCI couldn’t even pay the cricketers on time but now it seems to have a Midas touch.

The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world and ranks sixth among all sports leagues. Also, it is the richest cricketing tournament in the world. So to sum it up, the world will be severely affected economically and hence the value of the game will decline.

What if India quits cricket now

It’ll surely change everybody’s life in a way that they didn’t think it would.

No more coming early from office to crash at friends place for IPL rivalry. Set Max can have 12 months of Sooryavansham instead of 9.
Decrease in heart attacks would be one of the good things, but half of uncle’s over-the-tea spats would vanish.
Airport lobbies would never be crowded and tennis ball will be finally used for playing tennis.
Kids would finally stay home and cure their tan while there will be no more cross border grudges between Pakistan and India.
Pakistan would finally win all the world tournaments and Indians would no longer be in danger in Australia.

Indians would finally give a little more to hockey than Tarla Dalal and Hotstar would no longer be required.
Sachin Tendulkar would feel relieved about his records as Virat Kohli wouldn’t play anymore.
All the cricket stars surely would feel an urge to find an alternate occupation, but mainly it would be interesting to picture what profession they would rather choose. Virat, would make a great gym instructor while M.S Dhoni can have his railways experience in play.
Sehwag would no longer make sense on Twitter and no-one would ever lip read abuses live on television.

People would no longer have the opportunity witness the greatest of the game and somewhere the patriotism would decline.
Families won’t have a reason to fight, laugh and cheer together. People will grow, they’ll study and India might invest its time and money finally in the betterment. But clearly, this nation without this game would make the progress look lame. India may never ever stop playing this game for various reasons but at the subconscious level, Indians without cricket would be sad to say at all.

Nice try Mr. Darda. But get bored in between. …the first para should be the eyecatcher and enthralling. .
But what finally I have to say about your writing is “”Trust me You can Dance “”.
