Chennai Super Kings had a relatively quiet and predictable auction in which they looked to fill their ‘perceived’ gaps in the all-rounder department and add a batsman or two. I say ‘perceived’ because personally, I don’t feel they needed any more all-rounders than the ones they had, certainly not at the eventual price tag.
There’s nothing characteristically different in this CSK squad. They have once again put their weight behind experience – in terms of age and in terms of number of IPL matches played. This should be CSK’s toughest season yet with Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina, two of the most vital cogs in their wheel set to miss out on the IPL.

Well, folks, this is the answer to the question “What plans for 31st (of December)?” And honestly, at the risk of sounding like the fox who the grapes sour, this is far more refreshing than what could have been. It is almost that India’s exceptional on-field performance comes at a time when BCCI is imploding. …
